Terms and returns policy
Last updated: [add date]
1. About us
This website is run by ShaoChan ("we", "us"). Registered business name and address: [add details]. Company number and VAT number (if any): [add details]. Email: info@shaochan.co.uk. By placing an order you agree to these terms.
2. Placing an order
Adding an item to your basket is not an order. Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we confirm that we have accepted it (usually by email). We may decline an order, for example if an item is out of stock or a price was shown wrongly, and will refund any payment taken.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) [and include VAT where applicable]. Delivery costs are shown at checkout before you pay. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe, so we never see or store your card details. Customers with an approved account may also be offered credit terms or cash on delivery. The options available to you are shown at checkout, and credit payment terms are agreed with us separately. You need an account with us to place an order.
4. Delivery
We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom [edit if different]. Standard delivery costs £3.99 (free on orders of £50.00 or more). Some postcodes, such as Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands, cost more. The exact cost is shown at checkout before you pay. We aim to dispatch orders within [add number] working days and to deliver within [add number] working days of dispatch. Delivery dates are estimates. If we fail to deliver within 30 days of your order, you may cancel and receive a full refund. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered.
5. Your right to cancel (14 days)
If you are a consumer, you can cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason. To cancel, tell us clearly in writing (for example by email to info@shaochan.co.uk) with your order number. You then have a further 14 days to send the goods back to us.
We will refund the price of the goods and the standard delivery cost within 14 days of receiving the goods back (or of receiving proof you have sent them back). We may reduce the refund if the goods have lost value because you handled them more than needed to check them. You pay the cost of returning the goods unless they are faulty or not as described.
Goods that cannot be returned: perishable items or food with a short shelf life; sealed items that are not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed; and items made to your specification. [Edit this list to match what you sell.]
6. Faulty or incorrect goods
By law, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If something arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, contact us as soon as possible. You may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. We will pay the cost of returning faulty goods. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
7. Our responsibility
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or our negligence. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. We are not liable for business losses, as this website is for consumer use.
Trade customers (businesses)
If you buy for a business, such as a restaurant or a shop, these extra terms apply, and the 14-day consumer cancellation right in section 5 does not.
- Credit accounts. We may offer credit terms. Payment is due within [add number] days of the invoice date unless we agree otherwise. We may charge interest and compensation on late payments under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, and we may withdraw credit at any time, for example if invoices are overdue.
- Checking deliveries. Please check goods when they arrive. Tell us within [24 hours] about shortages, damage or wrong goods, and within [add time] for fresh, chilled and frozen goods, with photos. We cannot take back fresh, chilled or frozen goods unless they are faulty or wrongly supplied.
- Ownership. Goods stay ours until they are paid for in full.
- Prices and stock. Trade prices are for your account only and may change. Stock levels shown are a guide until we confirm your order.
- Our liability. Our liability to businesses is limited to the price of the goods concerned, except where the law does not allow us to limit it.
8. Your information
We use your personal data as set out in our privacy policy and cookie settings.
9. Complaints
If you have a problem, email info@shaochan.co.uk and we will try to resolve it quickly.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. [If you are based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, edit this.] You may also bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
